The good thing about RSS readers like Google Reader is that you can ‘follow’ dozens and dozens of sites, without actually visiting each and every site.
The bad thing is unless you REALLY stay on top of all of your feeds, you can find yourself with ~5000 unread posts.
Think it’s time to skim the feeds for the highlights, then hit the big red MARK ALL AS READ button, and start fresh tomorrow.
Well, what do we have here?
Yeah, another attempt at the blog.
I’ve have have a couple of domains sitting around, so I got the idea that I’m going to use the different domains for different things. I want to do a more static ‘who I am’ page, that also links to many of my other stuff (things that are hosted elsewhere.. netflix queues, wishlists, etc) Sort of the ‘center’ of my online universe. I think I’m going to use 8dot3 for that. The old blog will still be there, but I’m going to stop using it, and just sort of leave it there for archiving. So that people following those old links off google won’t be dunped into the ether of 404 land, and so I also don’t feel the need to move that crap onto this blog. This one is a fresh start.
I also want to do soft of an accumulator. Someplace I can pull all of my feeds, lists, etc together. Something like a personal friendfeed.com I’ll probably stick that over at dirtfeed.com. I originally picked that up for a home-rolled rss reader, but google reader has become so good, it’s not worth trying to do it yourself anymore.
So, this is it. Pretty bare bones, and it’s probably going to stay that way for the most part. I might be adding some widgets and plugins to help make things work smoothly, so there might be some things moving around, or appearing or disappearing, but probably nothing drastic. I’m going to have links to keep all of my sites pointed at each other.
I’m just looking forward to a clean start at tags and catagories. Fun stuff… *eye roll*
